Description

Unique gift for TRAIN or HISTORY Lovers (or for any "New Jersey" Residents).  This is a brass "Railroad Switch Key" used for the Central Railroad of New Jersey (the "CRR of NJ") which was a Class I railroad which began operating in the 1830's (and discontinued in the 1960's/1970's).  These keys were used to secure railway switches, railroad equipment and signals.  Railroad Keys are highly prized by Collectors (and those with a "tapered ring barrel" like this one are among the oldest).  This Key is imprinted on one side with "CRR of New Jersey" and the other with "T Slaight, Newark, NJ" (for the "Thomas Slaight Company", founded in 1852 to produce railroad padlocks.  This item can be shipped nationwide to Winning Bidder (with insurance) or picked up for FREE in Enfield, CT.  A very unique gift!
