My teaching philosophy is simple - I love to inspire and motivate my students to be kind, hard-working and curious artists as well as expressive musicians. I believe learning is a life-long process, that everyone learns differently, and that everyone is unique and has special gifts. I love to give my students tools that allow them realize their potential, to become fantastic musicians and successful in life."

As a result, he actively works hard to keep his website full of information for trombonists, www.trombone101.com. He currently has a large private studio around San Diego county. He has previously been on faculty at the University of California-San Diego, San Diego State University, Palomar College, Point Loma Nazarene University, and the Idyllwild Arts Academy.

Many also work as middle school and high school band directors, college trombone professors, private trombone instructors, composers, or music copyists.

As a SHIRES Artist, Sean was faculty at the International Trombone Association Youth Workshop at the University of Redlands in 2017, Ball State University in 2019, and at the Columbus State University in 2021. Sean currently resides in Carlsbad, California with his wife Bridget, their two children Miles and Ruby, golden retriever Abby, two cats Shadow and Ivy, and 13 chickens.
