Item Description
Block printing
12.5" x 10.5" x 1"
Carolyn M. Dooley, a native of VA, has lived in RI for over twenty years. Dooley graduated from George Mason University with a BA in Studio Art. She worked as a graphic designer for the US military and works as a freelance artist. She earned a Certificate in Children's Book Illustration from RISD and a MAT in Art Education from RIC. She teaches Visual Art at Joseph L. McCourt Middle School and additionally, Dooley serves as a Cooperating Teacher for RIC.
Dooley's art represents the good in our world through positive imagery and intimacy with the subject. Peaceful scenes capture her interest. She looks to the environment for surface texture and shapes. This translates to block printing through the use of the carved line. These subjects have special meaning and memories, however, they exist in everyone's everyday environment. It is a shared experience. It reminds us...why not look for peace and joy? And when you have found it, why not spread it?
