About the Artist: Carol Yotsuda has been a cornerstone of the artistic community in Hawaii for decades. A teacher, writer, and muralist, she is best known as the founder and President of the Garden Island Arts Council (GIAC), a role she has held for 47 years. Through her tireless efforts, she has organized cultural initiatives like the renowned E Kanikapila Kakou (EKK) Hawaiian music concert series for over 41 years. Her creativity extends beyond visual art to clothing design through Bore Bore Boutique, raising funds to sustain GIAC’s numerous artistic activities. Yotsuda’s art, like her work in the community, resonates with an ineffable energy, reflecting her lifelong commitment to culture and the arts in Hawaii.
