Item Description
5'8" LOST Retro Tripper Surfboard
Lost Surfboards, co-founded by Matt "Mayhem" Biolos and a group of school friends in 1985, has left an indelible mark on the surfing world. The company's journey began with the iconic round nose fish (RNF), a board that redefined surfboard design and remains one of the top-selling boards globally. The RNF 96, with its glass-on side fins and small FCS tailer, was a game-changer, especially during the early days of FCS's removable fins. This innovative approach to board design set the stage for Lost Surfboards' future success.
The RNF's influence extended to the creation of the "5'5" 19 1/4" video, which featured renowned surfers such as Cory and Shea Lopez, Andy and Bruce Irons, Chris Ward, and even Tom Curren riding Lost's shorter, wider boards. The video also famously showcased the discovery of Skeleton Bay in Namibia, a place that has since become a popular destination, thanks to the video's early exposure. Additionally, Lost Surfboards has collaborated with various industry experts like Drew from Florida to create innovative board designs that have resonated with surfers worldwide.
Lost Surfboards' influence goes beyond the RNF, with other iconic boards like the Rock Up gaining widespread recognition. The 2009 video “5’5” x 19 1⁄4” Redux” showcased what exactly Lost's short, high-volume boards were capable of, including Cory Lopez’s pioneering ride at Skeleton Bay.
The company's commitment to pushing the envelope in surfboard design has led to collaborations with shapers like Lee Stacey, resulting in versatile surfboard models suitable for all conditions. Lost's impact even extends to snowboarding, where they have made significant contributions to board design.

PACKING & SHIPPING
Kindly note, that packing, shipping, and handling are not included - winning bidders are responsible for pick up and/or shipment of their board, including costs to package/ship. Boards can be picked up at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel or the purchaser can arrange for shipping. If shipped, we often work with a local UPS in Dana Point as the carrier. They have years of experience packaging/shipping our surfboards and do a wonderful job.
Pick up, packing, and shipping surf boards UPS Ground that are less than 7' costs approximately $500. Pick up, packing, and freighting surf boards that are more than 7' to 13' averages between $590 and $1,090. Kindly note, all surfboards longer than 7' can only be shipped by freight service. Additionally, please keep in mind the above values are only estimates and may be more or less, dependent on the board size and where it is travelling.
We strongly recommend that you inquire with our UPS Partner at (949) 248-9150 ext.0 to get a quote of how much shipping to your address will cost, as price varies due to location. If you arrange shipment with our UPS partner, we will handle the pick-up arrangement with them but will need to know your shipping address and phone number. They will be in touch directly to confirm packaging/shipment costs. The hotel does not manage this. If you prefer to use a different carrier, you will need to arrange pick up directly with the carrier from the resort and next steps.
Boards will be available for pick-up and shipping after Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Boards must be picked up no later than Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
