BOTOX is a cosmetic neurotoxin injection that blocks signals to the nerves that cause your facial muscles to contract. This effect relaxes and smooths wrinkles and fine lines that are caused by repetitive muscle movements. BOTOX injections are most frequently used between the eyes (frown lines), around the crow’s feet, and to minimize the wrinkles in the forehead area. BOTOX can act to raise the eye brows if placed properly and is also dependent on the patient’s forehead musculature. BOTOX can also relax tight neck bands so they are less pronounced. It can also be used to help balance facial asymmetry. You should begin to notice an improvement in your wrinkles within 24-48 hours but may take up to one week to show the expected change. Results can last up to four months for moderate to severe wrinkles.
