Item Description
Zuni Indian Pottery Duck by artist Rowena Him Nahohai
Hand painted pottery duck signed R. Him '99.
Size is approx 5 inches high x 5 inches from tip of tail to end of beak
Having been part of the Nahohai family, online sources suggest that Rowena was taught the craft by her mother in law, Josephine, her husband and his brother, Randy and Milford. Josephine became a potter in the 1950's when her jewelry sales slowed. She was part of a revival of sorts led by Daisy Hooee and classes were taught to the women of the Pueblo at the Zuni High School, New Mexico.
