Item Description
Bid now to get a full day (8 hours) of meeting space at the beautiful, historic Carey Cottage, located minutes from downtown Portsmouth. Recipient can reserve either the Board Room, Training Room or Music Room for a professional retreat, meeting or event.
Carey Cottage, Arthur Astor Carey's summer house or “Creek Farm” was designed by Alexander Wadsworth Longfellow. Construction began on the structure in 1887 with at least four major architectural phases of construction completed before 1900. The house is an outstanding representative of the summer home movement in New Hampshire, a rare survivor of an artistic summer colony at Little Harbor, Portsmouth, and is significant for its associations with both Arthur Astor Carey (1857-1923) and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Jr. (1854-1934).
Carey Cottage is owned and managed by Goodwork, a nonprofit organization that supports, develops and strengthens Greater Seacoast NH nonprofits by maximizing their capacity to deliver services. Goodwork does this through customized strategic support and affordable live and work space.
Item Special Note
Rental available between June 2025-June 2026; scheduling dependent on availability and other scheduled activity at Carey Cottage. Rental agreement will be facilitated through Goodwork's Program and Event Manager. Contact information will be provided to winning bidder at auction close.
