Artist Statement:

My cod is an effigy of the first fish to climb out of the muck and walk on dry land. Her name is Jo, the First. Jo is the ancestor of all mammals and can't be held accountable for modern environmental problems. She comes with an explanation poem.

Artist Biography:

I am self-taught and work intuitively with a rough idea and then let the piece talk. Enjoyment in art comes from making the object, solving the problems along the way, and the constant encouragement of my very talented studio mates at Little Harbor Studio and Gallery.

Item Special Note

Pick-up of purchased cods will be July 12 from 12-3 and July 13 from 3-6 at Sagan Harborside Sotheby's 1 Essex St, Marblehead. The winning bidder will receive a notification email with information including pick-up time and location.

If the winning bidder requires shipping, their credit card will be charged a separate $35 fee to cover USPS ground and handling. Shipping is available within the U.S. only and must be requested within 7 days after receipt of the notification email.

If the winning bidder has not picked up their cod (or provided shipping address) within 30 days after the close of the auction, the cod will become the property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc.
