Item Description
"Tree of Love" from St. Luke Center 24" x 32"
Tree of Love is a vivid and joyful collaboration, created by the children of San Francisco Head Start. Using their colorful handprints, the children shaped a flourishing tree whose branches reach upward in a dazzling canopy of reds, blues, yellows, purples, and greens. Each handprint is unique, yet together they form a unified whole—symbolizing the strength, diversity, and shared growth of a nurturing community.
Alongside the tree are Chinese characters that read: “Ten years to grow a tree, a hundred years to nurture a person”—a timeless proverb that reminds us of the profound impact of education and care. Just as trees take years to grow strong, so too does the careful, steady investment in children shape future generations.
This piece captures the very essence of Head Start’s mission: cultivating resilience, fostering belonging, and ensuring that every child, no matter their background, has the opportunity to thrive. By supporting Tree of Love, you are not only celebrating children’s creativity but also planting seeds for a brighter, more equitable future.
